How many of us have said that? I know I have more than once. Difference does make the world go around, but sometimes being “different” causes the world to come to a standstill, skid on its axis, and stop when terrible tragedies occur just for someone being themselves. Someone which we know is different from us, which is the way it’s supposed to be, right? I know that. You know that. What gives some people the right to be who they are and others not to be? Who made these rules? If someone finds the answer to that, please, tell me. I know I’m not alone in this observation. Everyone has a different answer of what it means to them.
SUICIDE IS REAL
I recently read in the newspaper a 9-year-old little boy took his life just for being “different.” Over summer vacation he was so happy and excited because he finally discovered himself and his feelings. He was so proud and confident to share this news with friends when he returned to school, but unfortunately this news wasn’t received very well from the other children. This caused him to be bullied, tormented and teased to the point that his so-called friends told him to take his own life. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what he did. Why? Just because of actions from others and their choice of words.
Have you ever really thought about words? Those things, sounds, noises that spill out of our mouths during arguments, happiness, sadness, etc. Think about it. You can’t see them. You can’t touch them. You can’t smell them. You can feel them deep down in your soul, but still can’t see them. How can words have so much power and control over us when we can’t even see, touch or smell them? Some are strong. Some are weak. Some make us happy and others make us sad. Some words show love while others show hate. Each word in their own way – “different,” just like us. Each one of us can be strong, weak, happy, sad, love and hate. It’s your privilege to choose any words you like when opening your mouth. No one, but you. I like to believe that some people just don’t think before they speak, and the words come out accidentally or fly out too soon. I think sometimes people wish they could take them back, return them to where they came from before they prematurely escaped. Of course, we all know that’s impossible. Some people have words fly out so fast we can’t even understand the words. Others words come out so slowly we feel we have to pat them on the back just to help get them out. Some words we always remember and others not so much. We all carry words within us and hope they all come out or stay in at the correct times.
SPEAK WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION
So please, the next time you feel those invisible powerful sounds, words pouring from your lips please search for the love and compassion words inside you and not the hurtful or hateful words. Keep those where they belong – never to be heard from again. Although we can’t have a perfect world we can all try a little more to make things much better by using loving and compassionate words.
Love yourself and be your own “different”.
Remember ….. “That’s what makes the world go around”.
